BBN 7 Housemate wins in Fidelity GAIM 5 Draw

It seems the stars are truly aligning for Big Brother Naija 7 (BBN 7) housemate -Cyph – as he recently won N1million in the Fidelity Bank Get Alert In Millions Season 5 promo (GAIM 5).

Emeka Bright Nwekete (AKA Cyph) a customer of Fidelity Bank, Owerri emerged as one of the 10 winners in the August monthly draw of the promo.

The draw, which also doubled as the grand finale draw of the campaign, saw Charles Ahiwe of Saka Tinubu Cash Centre win the star prize of N10 million while Alaba Ajiloye of Gwagwalada branch and Udemuzue Okafor of Festac branch, emerged as the first and second runners-up winning N5 million and N2 million naira respectively.

At the prize presentation ceremony which held at The Metropolitan Club, Victoria Island, Lagos on Wednesday, 7 September 2022, it was an elated Cyph who came in the company of fellow BBN 7 housemate, Christy O. (Christiana Oluwafunke Ojumu) to receive his prize.

“Today marks the fulfilment of the promise we made last November when we commenced the journey of rewarding our customers for maintaining a healthy savings habit with N125million in cash prizes.

During this campaign, we have rewarded 1,880 customers with various sums of money comprising 1,800 customers that have won N10,000 each in 36 weekly consolation draws and 80 customers who have won N1million each in 8 monthly draws.

In today’s event, we would be presenting cash prizes to 13 winners that emerged in the grand and final monthly draws which held last week”, said Promo Chairperson and Executive Director, Lagos and South-West, Fidelity Bank Plc, Dr Ken Opara in his welcome address.

The prize presentation event also had representatives of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission and Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority as well as winners in the GAIM 5 promo, their relatives, media and staff of Fidelity Bank in attendance.

Expressing his gratitude to regulators and customers, Dr Opara, who was represented by Chinwe Iloghalu, Regional Bank Head, Victoria Island said: I want to seize this opportunity to thank our regulators who have supported us on this journey.

Since the launch of the campaign and through several monthly draws and prize presentation events, you have been there to keep us on the straight and narrow. Thank you for making this campaign a success. I also want to thank our customers for keeping faith with Fidelity and providing us with the opportunity to prove why banking with us is a rewarding venture.

AGN bans unauthorised video recordings at Junior Pope’s burial

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has banned unauthorised pictures and video recordings at the burial of Junior Pope.

Pope passed away in April after a boat accident on the River Niger in Asaba, Delta state.

His family disclosed that the actor’s final rites will be held on May 17.

In a recent Instagram post, Emeka Rollas, the AGN president, said in preparation for Pope’s burial, the guild has appointed 30 representatives from five states (Delta, Imo, Abia, Anambra, and Enugu) to attend the funeral.

He said the representatives would get AGN T-shirts and urged attendees to coordinate through their respective state chapter chairman.

Rollas also announced the restriction of unauthorised photos and recordings during the burial proceedings.

He added that press and bloggers seeking to cover the event must be accredited by Pope’s family beforehand.

“In preparation for the burial of our departed colleague Jnr Pope we have appointed 30 representatives each from these five state chapters namely Delta, Imo, Abia, Anambra and Enugu a conveying bus with the official T-shirts for each of the state chapter,” he wrote.

“If you are within any of the mentioned states please contact the chairman Actors Guild of Nigeria of the state chapter where you are.

“For those who want to go on their own please you may wish to reach out to us for your T-shirts.

“It is a devastating and sorrowful period for the Actors Guild of Nigeria therefore we shall not indulge in any unnecessary picture or video recording that is not by the official photographers at the proceedings of final journey of our departed colleague. All Press/ Bloggers must be accredited by the family.”

Outrage as Korra Obidi plans Hawaii vacation — days after fans donated $50k for custody battle

Korra Obidi, the US-based Nigerian dancer, has attracted backlash on social media after announcing vacation plans to Hawaii — days after launching a GoFundMe account.

On Friday, Korra cried out for financial assistance to engage in a parental rights battle with Justin Dean, her ex-husband.

The entertainer claimed Dean obtained a court order prohibiting her from posting their two children on social media.

She initiated the GoFundMe campaign to cover the costs of challenging the court ruling and raised over $50,000 from over 950 donors worldwide.

On Sunday, during a Facebook live, the dancer announced that she was going to Hawaii for vacation, three days after she launched her campaign.

This however provoked a chorus of condemnation on social media platforms.

While many users accused Korra of scamming them, others slammed the people who donated money to her in the first place.

‘You want to counsel man who sexualised 4-year-old daughter?’ — Simi slams police

Simi, the Nigerian singer, has criticised the police over their method of handling a case of alleged child exploitation.

A young man named Musa Suleman was arrested for allegedly posting semi-nude photos of his four-year-old daughter on social media.

The case was launched after an X user flagged the inappropriate content to Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police spokesperson.

Adejobi confirmed Suleman’s arrest, adding that the Edo state police command planned to “counsel” the father instead of pressing charges.

“This is an act of indecency and exposing the young child to moral dangers. The PPRO of Edo command will take it up and counsel the parents rather than prosecute them,” he wrote.

“Many of us do not know the implications of what we do. We will educate them, and many alike. This kind of a thing will expose the girl to the rots in our system and moral dangers. Not in all cases we prosecute, there is a room for ADR and CSR in our duties, and we shall be adopting such. @EdoPoliceNG, @PoliceNG.”

The approach sparked outrage from some X users including Simi, who took to her page to criticise the police.

“You want to “counsel” parents that blatantly and repeatedly sexually exploit a baby??? A FOUR YEAR OLD CHILD!!! Wtf is going on?????? Omg,” she wrote.

Suleman’s child exploitation case comes days after the Lagos sexual offences and domestic violence court sentenced Success Ude to 14 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy with hearing and speech impairments.

Ude pleaded not guilty to the charge when he was first arraigned on February 17, 2022.

During the ruling on May 9, the judge held that all evidence presented in the case indicates the defendant’s guilt, leading to a conviction under section 262 of the criminal law.
