Yayi threatens legal action over claims he is from Ekiti

Ogun State APC governorship candidate Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has threatened legal action against two individuals over claims that he is an indigene of Ekiti State.

Adeola, who currently represents Ogun West in the Senate, gave Hon Abayomi Hunye and Ambassador Folake Marcus-Bello 24 hours to provide evidence supporting their claims or face legal action.

His media adviser, Kayode Odunaro, said the claims were made during separate television interviews.

Adeola described the assertions concerning his origin as false and libellous and challenged those making them to provide evidence.

The controversy comes ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, where questions surrounding Adeola’s ancestral origin have again become a political issue.

Traditional leaders in Kemta, Ogun State, have previously affirmed Adeola’s ancestral connection to the community.

The Oluwo of Kemta and Baaye of Egbaland, Chief Abayomi Rotimi, has publicly maintained that Adeola is a son of the community regardless of political differences.

Rotimi also urged people not to allow partisan politics to interfere with traditional institutions.

Adeola’s camp said similar claims about his alleged Ekiti origin had previously surfaced during political campaigns concerning his representation of Ogun West.

The senator is now demanding evidence from those making the latest claims and has warned that he could pursue legal remedies if they fail to substantiate them.
