‘The Organisers did abysmal job’ — Burna Boy finally apologises to Lagos fans over late performance

Burna Boy has blamed the organisers of ‘Love, Damini Concert’ for his late performance at the show in Lagos.

The music star has been on the receiving end of a heated social media backlash for insulting fans at his concert.

Burna Boy was to perform on Sunday night but didn’t show up until 4 am on Monday.

This reignited conversations about performing musicians disrespecting concertgoers by showing up late at shows.

In a reaction via his Instagram handle, Burna Boy apologised to his fans for showing up late at the concert.

“I love you but I can’t do this again. The organisational structure and infrastructure are not there for the complexities of my audio and production needs. Let’s be clear. I wasn’t late, my band wasn’t late,” he said.

“We pride ourselves on being highly professional, especially with our stagecraft.

“There were three options available to me; wait for the audio to be fixed and delay the show, come out at 11 pm as planned with no sound, or call a breach of contract and pull the plug.

“I know I can’t go all over the world and neglect my own people so I’m taking matters into my own hands! I’m gathering the troops to work on building world-class infrastructure in the Nigerian entertainment business.

“Investors and stakeholders interested pls hit me up, we need to make some changes.

“I apologise to my fans for how hectic it was. Thank you for staying and weathering the storm with me.”

“Wonder X, KC Kennedy, Olisa Adibua and Creative Economy Catalyst (CEC) did an abysmal job of executing anything and my fans should never have had to go through that.”

I felt irritated writing my hit song ‘Joromi’ says Simi

Simi, the Nigerian singer and songwriter, says she did not want to write ‘Joromi‘, her 2017 hit single.

‘Joromi’ is the fifth track off ‘Simisola’, the singer’s second studio album, and remains one of her biggest songs to date.

In an interview with CNN Africa, the 36-year-old disclosed that she is sometimes forced to write songs even when she does not have “any inspiration”.

She described ‘Joromi’ as a “deadline song”, adding that she was “irritated” while writing it.

“Sometimes I do not have any inspiration but I have a deadline. I do not really like those because it is like you have to force it to come and I am not crazy about those,” she said.

“But I have made like really great songs from those, ‘Joromi’ was one of those. ‘Joromi’ was a deadline song. I was even done. They sent me a beat and I was like I am done writing but they said this beat and I was like okay.

“I wrote like five different songs on that piece that I did not like them and ‘Joromi’ came and that was like the deadline song. I did not even want to write the song, I was just irritated but I am glad that I did.”

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has announced a four-day fasting and prayer session with Jerry Eze, the Streams of Joy International founder, against deaths in Nollywood.

In an Instagram post on Monday, Emeka Rollas, AGN president, shared an e-flier of the event themed: ‘Clearing the cloud of darkness over Nollywood’.

Rollas said “actors cannot continue to die like chickens,” adding that prayers are needed to avert more deaths in the industry.

He urged Nollywood actors and their supporters to join the programme to “deal with this ugly reproach”.

The prayer session is scheduled will be held at the M & M Center in Garki, Abuja from May 2 to 5.

“In view of the recent passing of our two veteran members and the devastating tragic boat mishap that claimed the lives of five active practitioners including Jnr Pope in Asaba, we have decided to seek divine intervention in fasting and prayers to avert similar occurrence in the future,” he said.

“Join us on the Alter of Fire from 2nd May to 5th may 2024 for prayers and declarations to deal with this ugly reproach. Actors cannot continue to die like chickens.

“Let us reclaim our spiritual airways and highways that seem to have been hijacked by certain powers. Other members of the Nollywood are free to join in this programme.

“I appeal to all NSPDians all over the world and all lovers of actors of Nollywood to join us in this programme.”

Since January 2024, Nollywood has lost more than eight actors including Mr Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor, Junior Pope, and Sisi Quadri.

Others who lost their lives include Olofa Ina, Adejumoke Aderounmu, Saratu Gidado, and Ethel Ekpe.

Pretty Mike reveals why women are attracted to Portable

Pretty Mike, the socialite, has praised Portable while revealing what he claimed to be the singer’s “tricks to attracting women”.

Portable has always been in the news for controversial reasons. He has also been criticised for having several baby mamas.

Addressing the singer’s critics via his Instagram story, Mike said despite the backlash against Portable for being “loud and dirty,” he is a “responsible man who provides for his family”.

The socialite argued that women are attracted to men who solve problems regardless of outward beauty.

Mike also took a shot at men who are good-looking but struggling to take care of their homes, adding that “Portable will collect your babe and impregnate her”.

“I see many people insult Portable; they said he is too loud, he looks dirty he needs to go for full body scrub, they wonder what those women are doing with him bla bla bla,” he wrote.

“The fact is that a responsible man who provides for his family will always be attractive to women. If you like be the finest, cleanest guy with a mad stroke game if you are a deadbeat Portable will collect your babe and impregnate her.

“Portable is probably paying house rent, school fees, food and taking care of 3 women but you are still asking your wife to bring half of house rent and other bills and you are insulting Portable is not your mate o.

“I am not promoting polygamy before all of you say “ashewo don drop quote” I am just explaining the mystery behind why many women will rather be with a man like Portable and you with your Queen’s English cannot find a woman to stay with you.

“May you hug this common sense in Jesus name.”
