Court restrains Dotun from defaming D’banj, orders police to probe OAP

Published

A district court sitting in Abuja has retrained Kayode Dotun, the on-air-personality (OAP) fondly called Do2dtun, from allegedly making defamatory comments about D’banj.

Emmanuel Iyanna, the district judge, gave the order in a ruling with motion no: MN/218/2023 on Wednesday.

D’banj had sought the injunction order through Toheeb Lawal, his legal representative, against Do2dtun from making “malicious and defamatory posts against him on social media”.

Granting the application, the judge ruled: “an order restraining the defendant (Do2dtun) either by himself, servants, privies, cohorts, representatives or any person deriving authority from him from further making any malicious, intimidating or defamatory post directing at the complainant (D’banj) on any social media platform (X, Instagram, etc.) or news media pending the hearing and determination of the substantive case”.

The court also ordered the deputy inspector of police of the force intelligence bureau to probe a criminal complaint brought by D’banj against Do2dtun within two weeks and report back.

Dotun recently resumed his child custody battle with Omotayo, his ex-wife who happens to be a sister to the singer.

The media personality claimed he is being denied access to his children.

During his week-long rant, Dotun issued Omotayo’s family — including D’banj — a 24-hour ultimatum to allow “me access to my kids”.

“Hello @iamdbanj I give u & your sister 24 hours to tell me how u intend to grant me access to my kids. If you don’t I’ll put the numbers of every of your family members out. They will call you on my behalf. Shey o ni pe o ya werey Abi… Ole oshi.. atole! alatenuje! Onidoti!” he had written.

He also accused D’banj of being an instrument of discord in his child custody case with Omotayo.

Laura Ikeji opens up on why she refuses to get plastic surgery

Nigerian reality TV star Laura Ikeji has explained why she has not undergone plastic surgery, despite her long-standing desire to alter her body.

In a video posted to her Instagram account on July 25, 2024, Ikeji addressed her followers, particularly those who had undergone surgeries. She also revealed that, despite multiple plans and opportunities, she has yet to go through with her decision to have plastic surgery.

“This question is for all of you who haven’t gotten your bodies done. Every year I say ‘This year I’m going to try my body done’ Let me have my son first and then immediately I had my son and I was like let’s get this body done,” she began.

Ikeji revealed that she once went as far as to pay for the surgery but she never showed up for the appointment and continued to procrastinate afterwards.

She explained, “Three years later, I had my daughter and I was like, ‘We’re going to get my body done,’ and this was during COVID. At some point, I paid a plastic surgeon to get my body done, but I never showed up. Then I said I’d do it after my last child; I told myself I’d do it after I finished having my kids, and guess what? I still do not want to have my body done.”

Ikeji then highlighted a deeper fear about being put under anaesthesia for the procedure, and asked her followers, “Those of you who have actually done it, how did you do it? How did you go there and they put you under anaesthesia, and then you sleep, knowing that it’s by God’s grace that you wake up?”

Her fans and followers took to the comment section to weigh in on the topic and answer her question.

A fan opened up, saying, “My insurance was actually going to pay for it because I had diastasis recti after the birth of my children. I had an appointment scheduled but I still canceled. When u become a mother, you have to think things through and set priorities. I always said to myself, what will become of my kids if the worst thing happens to me? So I started working out, eating healthy and intermittent fasting sometimes and I have seen tremendous improvement. There is social media and then there is real life, always remember that.”

“Laura sis you see that last statement? But lemme marry and be done with Ma kids maybe just maybe I might have developed the courage,” said another fan.

Nigerians need to unite if we want actual change, says DJ Switch on planned protest

Catherine Udeh, the disc jockey and activist better known as DJ Switch, has called on Nigerians to unite ahead of a planned nationwide protest.

Recently, there have been reports that some Nigerians, under various bodies, are planning a nationwide protest between August 1 and 10. The protest, according to the groups, is aimed to show their opposition against the economic hardship particularly the rising cost of living in the country.

In a lengthy post via her X page, Switch urged Nigerians to unite and fight tribal and religious discord “planted by the political class” to dampen the planned protest.

The activist alleged that the political class would continue mismanaging the country’s economy until the citizens decided to save Nigeria.

Udeh claimed some politicians supporting the protest were only doing it for record purposes and to deceive the youths.

Switch, who gained fame for covering the 2020 shooting incident at the Lekki tollgate during the EndSARS protest, also shared other reasons “why Nigerians should join the planned protest”.

“I was not going to speak on this issue because I’ve experienced first hand the cowardice of many Nigerians but my love for Nigeria is literally haunting me! So here it goes. They say that there is a time for everything,” she wrote.

“A time to sleep, play, work, fight or die! Africa as a whole needs to know what f**king time it is! If you recognize what time it is, then you know what to do! Mind you, the cabals running Nigeria, Nigeria especially are smarter than you all might think.

“While they may be on edge about this planned protest, especially after seeing the events in Kenya, I promise you that they can bet their left balls that nothing will happen. That being said, many have been advised to “show” support for our fundamental human right to freedom of expression for two reasons.

“So that there is a record of them supporting it and to guide you all like babies to do your protest and go and sleep. So, the question really is this, do you know what time it is? Because if you don’t, just kukuma go and sleep and If you do, then prepare to take the bull by the horn.

“You need to understand that whether you japa or stay, they don’t care! Nigeria is a mining ground for these devils. They take and take with no single thought or care as to where the nation ends up wasteland!

“The tribal division they’ve sown amongst us was a desperate move on their broken chessboard which should have fallen flat on its face but there are those of us who are so selfish, shortsighted and wicked. They will sell their children for the brown envelope.

“These unfortunate Nigerians that traded their brains and patriotism for alomo bitters are a huge obstacle to those of us that want a working nation. I don’t care what tribe you are from or religion you belong to, we need to unite if we want actual change.

“I’m expecting the bots to call me all sorts of names as usual, like I give a shit! Mosquito disturb me pass those ones. But if you keep missing your opportunity to send these thieves back to where they belong then soon you all will be like the girl/boy who cried wolf!”
