Don’t ask me to contribute for actors who don’t assist me, Shan George warns

Shan George, the Nigerian actress and filmmaker, has warned her colleagues not to include her in WhatsApp groups for financial contributions if they cannot get her roles in movies.

Venting her annoyance in a video recently shared via Instagram, George said she is consistently added to several WhatsApp groups to make contributions for the welfare of their ailing colleagues in need but “excluded for movie roles”.

Speaking in pidgin English, the actress said she believes individuals should handle their matters because when she had problems, nobody seemed to care.

“You have never called me for work but anytime e reach something wey go become contribution, you go put my name. You go form WhatsApp group for contribution, you go put my name,” she said.

“You dey do work o, you dey pay people o, you no ever one day remember say oh make we call this woman, Shan George, make she even take part for this major movie or work or even if na waka pass, make I just see small garri drink for house with my children.

“You will never call me but you go dey add me. Today, I woke up this morning, and I have been added to 15 groups for contribution of money from people wey never call me for work one day. Wey no know wether I don eat, make una no let thunder fire una o. This thing wey I dey talk so ehn, e pain me o.

“With all due respect to whoever! Mbok No dey call me for contribution if you no dey call me for work.”

Yul Edochie to sue bloggers claiming ‘kidnapper’ killed by police was his friend

Yul Edochie, the Nigerian actor, has dismissed reports linking him to Ason Rich, the filmmaker reportedly gunned down by police during a gun duel in Lagos.

Last week, the state police command said it killed nine suspected kidnappers who “targeted high net-worth residents” in the state.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson of the command, disclosed that the suspects were killed during a gun duel.

But on Monday, there were reports that one of the suspected kidnappers was a movie producer.

Speaking with TheCable Lifestyle on Tuesday, Emeka Rollas, the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), said he cannot confirm the membership of the suspected kidnapper.

There were also reports claiming the deceased had worked with Edochie. The reports alleged that the pair were “friends”.

Reacting via his Instagram page, Edochie said he met the filmmaker just once at a movie set in June.

He said the picture of them circulating was taken at the movie set following a request from the filmmaker.

Edochie also threatened to take legal actions against bloggers linking him to Ason Rich.

“I want to address a rumour that has been flying around for some days now. About the Nollywood producer who was shot by the police and according to the police he is a kidnapper,” he said.

“I have been hearing stories for some days. I think blogs are posting my picture with him and saying the guy was my friend. So I want to state it categorically here that the guy was not my friend.

“I have been in Nollywood for almost 20 years, I only saw the guy once when I shot a movie for him. A few weeks ago, a director contracted me for a job which I thought was his but when I got to the set I met this guy.

“He introduced himself to me as Rich Productions and his name is Henry. We greeted, shot the movie, finished the movie, he came to me saying he is excited to finally work with me and he asked if he could take a picture.

“I agreed, took the picture and I left. That was my first time of seeing him and after that I never saw him again. That’s the picture a lot of people are circulating saying he was my friend. He was not my friend, I got to know him as a producer.

“I don’t know why you people are circulating it. But I know anything that has my name on it sales but this is absolutely wrong.

“Whoever is spreading this, I hope you can defend it in court because it is coming. If you want to write a story of the producer that was shot, put the guy’s picture, don’t add my picture.

“And if you must add pictures of actors to say he was a producer, put the pictures of all the actors he had worked with… I never knew this guy before, I only met him once and that was last month when I shot a movie for him.

“So why are bloggers using my picture just to generate traffic? You are trying so hard to destroy my name but you can’t because it was crested by God. But know this, I hope you’re able to defend it in court or at the police station because it’s coming.”

Actress Shelley Duvall dies in her sleep after battle with diabetes

Shelley Duvall, the Hollywood actress famous for her roles in ‘The Shining’, ‘Annie Hall’, and ‘Nashville’, has passed on.

Dan Gilroy, the filmmaker and a longtime friend of Duvall, confirmed her demise to The Hollywood Reporter.

The actress died on Thursday at the age of 75.

“My dear, sweet, wonderful life partner and friend left us. Too much suffering lately, now she’s free. Fly away, beautiful Shelley,” Gilroy said.

Gilroy said the film star died in her sleep at home in Blanco, Texas. The cause of death was complications from diabetes, said Gary Springer, her friend and publicist.

Duvall was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on July 7, 1949. She was famous for her work with director Robert Altman, starring in seven of his movies including ‘McCabe + Mrs Miller’, ‘Nashville’, ‘Buffalo Bill and the ‘Indians’ and ‘3 Women’.

She, however, took a lengthy break from acting and set up her own production company Think Entertainment in 1987.

Her acting roles also started to reduce in the 1990s to 2002.

In 2022 — about six years after admitting she was “very sick” with mental health problems — the movie star returned to the screen with a role in ‘The Forest Hills’.

The New York Times attributed her apparent disappearance to the impact of a 1994 earthquake that damaged her Los Angeles home, and the stress of her brother having cancer.

Speaking about her decade-long hiatus in May, Duvall said “It was violence”.

Issues surrounding her health status were raised when she appeared on the TV talk show by Dr Phil in 2016.

She revealed then that she was struggling with her sleep due to a pain in her spinal cord, and some of her internal organs.

“I need help getting back to my house that I should not have left because it is my home state. In spite of whoever lived there before me, it became my house when I purchased it. If I say I am healthy, first thing they would do is hurt me,” she said.

“They compromised my spinal cord…”

Reacting, Gilroy told the New York Times that she had become “paranoid and just kind of delusional”.

Duvall received several accolades including nominations for a British Academy Film Award and two Primetime Emmys.

Guobadia threatens to sue estranged wife over erectile dysfunction post

Published

By

Simon Guobadia, the Nigerian businessman man, has threatened to sue Porsha Williams, his estranged wife, over her recent erectile dysfunction (ED) post.

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the inability of a man to get or maintain an erection long enough to have sexual intercourse.

The estranged couple exchanged vows in November 2022.

Rumours of their split, however, surfaced in February when Porshia filed for divorce in Atlanta, United States.

Guobadia also confirmed his separation from ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ star, saying his love for her will cease after their divorce.

Recently, Porsha appeared to have aimed a dig at Guobadia in an Instagram post where she shared messages about men’s health awareness.

One of the messages was tagged ‘things you can do to help with erectile dysfunction’.

Reacting in a lengthy Instagram post, Guobadia fired back at her for “being unable to maintain a narrative” about him.

“The next narrative has arrived. Erectile dysfunction (ED) #wifeforthestreets,” he wrote.

“The narrative changed from imminent deportation’ and ‘fleeing the country to Dubai’ to broke and selling luxury cars. Waiting for next narrative #thestorykeepschanging.”

In the post’s caption, he also threatened to take legal action against her, adding that there are “consequences for making inflammatory and defamatory statements”.

“This ‘railroad’ ‘265 day’ just does not get it. There are consequences for making inflammatory and defamatory statements. Get your coins together, you’re going to need every dime to defend what’s coming,” he wrote.

“A woman that has a history of coming for the manhood of every ex. Peddling same old narrative and tricks, unfortunately you met the right one.”
