Tuchel concerned as injuries continue to limit Cole Palmer’s England opportunities
England manager Thomas Tuchel has expressed concern that Chelsea forward Cole Palmer is missing too many opportunities with the national team because of recurring injury problems.
Palmer withdrew from England’s latest camp after experiencing pain and discomfort.
Tuchel said the 24-year-old cannot perform at his highest level while carrying an injury and confirmed that both Palmer and Chelsea communicated about his withdrawal.
The England coach stressed that Palmer’s absences are not the player’s fault but said regular participation in national-team camps is important if he is to establish himself fully within the squad.
Tuchel explained that he can only properly evaluate players when they are available to train and compete within his England setup.
Palmer had only recently returned to the England squad after missing the 2026 World Cup.
He was recalled following a strong start to the season with Chelsea but withdrew days later because of another muscle problem.
His latest setback continues a frustrating period in which fitness issues have limited his opportunities with the national team
