Kim Kardashian reveals esophagitis diagnosis in new ‘Kardashians’ trailer

Kim Kardashian has revealed that she has been diagnosed with esophagitis, a condition involving inflammation of the oesophagus.

The 45-year-old reality television star disclosed the diagnosis in a trailer for the upcoming eighth season of The Kardashians.

Footage from the trailer shows Kardashian discussing the diagnosis and later appearing in a hospital setting.

The revelation was particularly emotional for the Kardashian family because Kim’s father, Robert Kardashian Sr., died of oesophageal cancer in 2003 at the age of 59.

However, esophagitis and oesophageal cancer are not the same condition.

Esophagitis refers to inflammation and irritation of the tissues lining the oesophagus, the muscular tube that carries food and drink from the mouth to the stomach.

Possible symptoms can include painful or difficult swallowing and chest discomfort, while treatment depends on the underlying cause.

The trailer does not provide detailed information about the cause, severity or treatment of Kardashian’s condition.

Kardashian’s diagnosis is expected to be explored further when the new season of the family’s reality show premieres on Hulu in October.

The Kardashian family has previously supported work in oesophageal health following Robert Kardashian’s death.
