Maduka Okoye arrives Super Eagles camp after delayed release by Udinese

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has arrived in Uyo ahead of Nigeria’s opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar.

Okoye was the last member of Eric Chelle’s 24-man squad to report to camp after missing Nigeria’s first two training sessions.

The Super Eagles confirmed his arrival on Friday with a photograph of the Udinese goalkeeper and a brief welcome message.

His delayed arrival had generated discussion after footage emerged showing him at Milan Fashion Week, where he represented Udinese and modelled the Italian club’s third kit.

Okoye was also seen speaking with American rapper Cardi B during the event.

However, Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle said Udinese had requested that the goalkeeper remain with the club for scheduled activities before joining the national team.

That clarification is important because the timing of Okoye’s Milan appearance had led to criticism from some Nigerian supporters and commentators.

There has been no public confirmation of a romantic relationship between Okoye and Cardi B, despite online speculation following their appearances together.

With Okoye now in camp, Chelle has his three selected goalkeepers available: Okoye, Stanley Nwabali and Arthur Okonkwo.

Nigeria face Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo in their opening Group L qualifier before travelling to face Guinea-Bissau
