Lagos state government shuts Alaba International Market over environmental violations
The Lagos State Government has taken decisive action by sealing off the renowned Alaba International Market, situated in Ojo, due to its failure to adhere to proper waste disposal practices, non-payment of waste bills, and gross environmental sanitation offences.
The development was announced by the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, in a tweet posted early Monday morning, October 23, 2023.
The closure comes as a result of the market’s consistent disregard for waste disposal protocols and environmental regulations.
