Iran rules out talks with US until its conditions are met

Iran has said it will not resume negotiations with the United States until Tehran’s conditions are met, following comments by US President Donald Trump suggesting Washington could be open to talks.

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei stated Iran’s position while responding to Trump’s comments about the possibility of renewed negotiations.

Rezaei accused the US president of sending contradictory signals on negotiations and said Iran would not return to talks until its demands were satisfied.

Trump had said the United States remained open to possible engagement with Tehran.

The disagreement comes amid continued tensions between the two countries and uncertainty surrounding efforts to reach a wider agreement.

The United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding in June aimed at creating a framework for negotiations to end the regional conflict.

However, subsequent talks failed to produce a final agreement within the planned timeframe.

Iran has previously raised demands including sanctions relief and compensation connected to the conflict as part of its conditions.

The Strait of Hormuz has also become a major point of contention in the confrontation.

For now, Tehran’s position is that negotiations will not resume unless its stated conditions are addressed.
