“Looking at the beautiful young Annie in these pictures is lovely. You’ve been through all sorts of hell from a very young age, with so many responsibilities from so young. That girl never gave up.”

“From SS1 she never knew what it felt like to go on ‘break time’ like other kids in school because that was when she sneaked out of school to the market to get her mother’s pepper soup ingredients that she would have to cook after school to sell in front of their Boys Quarters in Mobil, VI.

“She will wait till her single mother gets off work at 7pm to take over from her , those hours before 7 pm were the longest ever because she would have only a few hours left to study and do her homework before bedtime.”

“I want to thank me for never giving up on me. For all the No’s I didn’t allow to discourage me and lose focus,” her post read.

“Girl, you have come a long way, Adulthood is still the hardest. The saying, ‘whatever doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger,’ is the true interpretation of the life of this girl; now a strong woman! I have not even started, just only scratching the surface now.”

Media personality Toke Makinwa has revealed that she regrets bleaching her skin, calling it ‘the dumbest thing ever.’

On May 4, 2024, Makinwa responded to a fan’s question on X which read, “If you could go back in time, what would you do differently?”

She said, “Nothing. Regret is so exhausting!!!! Wait, maybe bleaching my skin, it was the dumbest thing ever and I’m just so thankful for good genes and money cos…”

Makinwa’s revelation led to a series of reactions in the comment section, with some applauding her for admitting her truth, and others encouraging her to “return to her natural skin tone.”

A commenter highlighted the danger of skin bleaching saying, “Thanks for sharing, people don’t know how damaging it can be to their skin and internal organs.”

“Then stop once you stop you reverse it; the only reason you’re still light skinned is cos you’re still doing it,” said another commenter.

An X user commended Makinwa saying, “This is so great coming from you, hopefully, others see this and learn before it’s too late.”

“But genuinely asking, if you decided to stop won’t you just get back your natural skin tone back? I love how your dark-skinned sister looks and I think that’s how you looked as well. Anyway, you look beautiful now still, just think it might be exhausting,” a curious fan inquired.

“Ommoo, if you no get money ehn you eyes for don see shege. Anyways, it’s terrible to bleach. The end result will destroy your skin eventually!” said another.

Lola Alao narrates how a patient slapped her while working as caregiver in Canada

Lola Alao, the Nollywood actress, has recounted her ordeal as a caregiver in Canada.

Alao, who is popular in the Yoruba film industry, spoke about her relocation in an interview with Kunle Afod, her colleague.

She said she was once slapped by a dementia patient when she got close to an elderly person during her caregiving job.

The actress also said the incident made her quit her job and open a clothing business.

Alao further urged people to have a skill before relocating abroad.

“I always advise people looking to relocate to learn a skill like fashion designing, hairdressing or cooking. Because when I first came to Canada I had to learn a course to become a caretaker. So I went to the school for a year and once while caring for an elderly one, she slapped me,” she said.

“I had bathed and clothed her, she had dementia, and then she complained about her earring. So when I went to check on her to see what was wrong, she gave me a hard slap and I began to cry. The nurses around came to us after hearing the commotion and that was the day I decided that I wasn’t doing that anymore.

“Then I decided to open a boutique and my lounge, LA lounge, in two places but I later left the store and started selling from house but now I plan on getting a new store for my boutique.”

Alao was an air hostess before delving into acting with ‘Ripples’, the Nigerian television program. Since then she has starred in several movies including ‘Alaanu Mi’, ‘Dokita Alabere’, ‘Ewe Koko’ and ‘Gbokogboko’.

Kevin Spacey faces new sexual misconduct allegation from another man

In 2007, Hollywood actor, Kevin Spacey, took part in the pantomime, Cinderella, performed on the famous London stage.

Danny De Lillo, who dreamed of an acting career at the time and took a job at The Old Vic as a janitor, says years later that Spacey molested him.

He says he was sitting in a small alcove at the back of the theatre when, halfway through the performance, the star squeezed in next to him. At that moment, De Lillo claims, the star “was getting closer and suddenly he was between me and the wall.”

“I still remember the smell. His crotch was rubbing against me. And I just remember that I couldn’t move,” he says in an interview with The Telegraph. “People came into the auditorium and talked to him about how much they loved him. And I said, ‘What’s going on now?'” he recalls.

De Lillo cannot say how long the incident lasted, but he notes that he was traumatised. “This event took away so much of who I was, what I believed in, how I perceived celebrities. I wondered if this was an industry I wanted to be a part of,” adds the 39-year-old.

Today, he is among a group of 10 men who have publicly accused Spacey of inappropriate behaviour and are featured in a two-part documentary series, Spacey Unmasked, which will air on Channel 4.

The actor did not directly comment on De Lillo’s words. On Thursday, he said via X that he had “repeatedly asked Channel 4 for more than seven days to respond to the allegations against him dating back 48 years and to provide it with sufficient details to investigate these matters.”

He also stated that he “will not sit back” and allow himself to be attacked “with a one-sided ‘documentary’ about him in a desperate attempt to gain viewership.”

De Lillo did not report Spacey’s behavior to Old Vic authorities at the time or to the police because he feared no one would believe him. He didn’t quit his job because he had to pay rent for his apartment.

“I just did everything I could to avoid him. I think many people do the same in situations like this. But I didn’t tell anyone,” said a former employee of the theatre where the star was artistic director until 2015.
