Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has approved the immediate disengagement of directors-general of government agencies and technical advisers as he prepares to begin his second term in office.

The decision was announced on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, in a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode.

According to the statement, the affected officials have been directed to submit their handover notes to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.

Decision follows dissolution of Ekiti cabinet

The latest development comes less than 24 hours after Oyebanji dissolved the Ekiti State Executive Council.

The government explained that the disengagement completes the process of releasing political appointees from the outgoing administration, except for a limited number whose appointments have been retained because of their responsibilities.

Oyebanji expressed appreciation to the affected officials for their contributions to the administration and the development of Ekiti State.

He also wished them success in their future endeavours.

Oyebanji prepares for second term

The governor is expected to be inaugurated for a second term on October 16, 2026.

His latest decision follows an earlier administrative restructuring announced on September 27, when the government dissolved boards, commissions and parastatals and terminated the appointments of several political aides.

Directors-general and technical advisers had initially been exempted from that exercise.

Their disengagement now forms part of the wider transition arrangements ahead of the new administration.

The government has not announced a complete list of replacements for the affected positions.
