Former Premier League goalkeeper Shay Given marries Rebecca Gibson at Westminster Abbey
Former Premier League goalkeeper Shay Given has married his longtime partner Rebecca Gibson in a ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London.
The former Republic of Ireland international and Gibson exchanged vows on Saturday, October 10, 2026, after more than a decade of engagement.
The couple shared photographs from the ceremony on social media, marking the date and historic venue.
Given, 50, wore a black velvet tuxedo, while Gibson wore a white A-line wedding gown designed by Tom Sébastien.
Couple celebrate with family
Their children were among those involved in the ceremony, with daughters Gracie and Cassie serving as bridesmaids.
Sienna, Given’s daughter from his previous marriage, was also among the bridesmaids.
The couple later celebrated with guests at Hotel Café Royal in London.
Given and Gibson have been together since around 2013 and became engaged after the former goalkeeper proposed during a trip to Los Angeles.
Their Westminster Abbey ceremony attracted attention because weddings at the historic church are relatively uncommon and are subject to eligibility requirements.
Shay Given’s Premier League career
Given enjoyed a lengthy career in English football, most notably with Newcastle United.
He also represented Manchester City, Aston Villa, Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers during his playing career.
The former goalkeeper made more than 400 Premier League appearances and earned over 100 caps for the Republic of Ireland.
Since retiring from professional football, Given has worked as a football pundit and analyst for television broadcasters.
His marriage to Gibson marks a new chapter for the former Ireland international after the pair’s long-term relationship.
