Former Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has completed a move to Spanish La Liga club Getafe on a free transfer, signing a contract until June 30, 2027.

The 34-year-old right-back joins Getafe after leaving Real Madrid at the end of the previous season, bringing extensive experience from one of the most successful periods in the club’s history.

Getafe confirmed the signing on Tuesday, October 13, describing Carvajal’s leadership and experience as valuable additions to their squad.

Carvajal begins new chapter after Real Madrid career

Carvajal developed through Real Madrid’s youth academy before joining German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen in 2012.

He returned to Madrid the following year and established himself as a regular member of the first team.

During his time at the Santiago Bernabéu, the defender won 27 major trophies, including six UEFA Champions League titles.

He also made more than 450 La Liga appearances for the Spanish giants, earning recognition as one of the most accomplished right-backs of his generation.

Carvajal’s final season at Madrid was affected by injury, limiting his involvement before his departure.

Getafe strengthen squad with experienced defender

The signing gives Getafe an experienced defensive option as the club seeks to improve its position in the Spanish top flight.

Carvajal will work under manager José Bordalás, whose team has faced a challenging start to the 2026–27 campaign.

His arrival is expected to provide competition at right-back while adding experience to Getafe’s dressing room.

The former Real Madrid defender has also enjoyed success internationally, representing Spain in major competitions and winning the 2024 European Championship.

Carvajal’s contract runs until the end of the current season, with his move offering an opportunity to continue competing in La Liga following his departure from Real Madrid.
