Osagie Osarenz narrates early days of Wizkid when clubs kicked him out

Osagie Osarenz, the talent manager, has recounted how she met Wizkid and nurtured him into a music star.

Osarenz managed the ‘Ojuelegba’ singer for about five years before they parted ways.

In a chat with Afrobeats Intelligence, a podcast hosted by Joey Akan, the music journalist, Osarenz said she first met Wizkid around 2007.

The brand influencer said she had asked Wizkid to meet her after a colleague told her about his potential.

Osarenz said when they finally met, she knew the ‘Essence’ singer “was not ordinary” due to his intelligence and willingness to learn.

“One day, I was deleting texts from my Nokia phone when I saw one that reads: ‘Hi, my name is Wizkid, I am the one referred to you’. Then I asked him to come and see me. That was around 2007, 2008. He was like 17 at the time,” she said.

“Just from looking at him, I knew he wasn’t ordinary. Usually, for every artiste that I work with, there has to be that connection. Like, I can see and feel it within few minutes of my conversation with you.

“There’s nothing you would ask Wizkid to do in the studio that he would not do. He was never too tired for any task and he was very willing to learn. That convinced me to work with him.”

Osarenz said at the time, they usually get kicked out of shows due to Wizkid’s small look and the fact that she was also skinny.

“We used to get kicked out, we couldn’t get into clubs because of his small look and the fact that I was also skinny at the time,” she added.

“They would be like ‘what are you doing here with a child?’ There were days when Sound Sultan is performing at shows, we would plan towards arriving at the venue at the same time with him so he (Sound Sultan) could facilitate our entry or just hope that someone would recognise us at the gate. Crazy times.”

Patience Ozokwo, the ace Nigerian actress, has addressed rumours claiming she underwent spiritual deliverance.

In an Instagram post on Friday, Ozokwo described the “deliverance story” as “fake news”.

The 65-year-old actress, fondly called Mama G, warned that the people spreading the false narrative would face legal consequences.

“Don’t say I said, saw, or did what never happened. Don’t carry fake news just to get views,” she wrote.

“Have a conscience. Life is too short, live it well. Disclaimer!!! I have nothing to do with any deliverance story going around social media.

“Those responsible will face prosecution. If you don’t see it on my verified platforms or hear it from me, then it is probably a lie.”

CCTV footage shows Diddy punching, kicking Cassie in 2016

A shocking video from 2016 has surfaced online of Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs allegedly kicking, hitting, and dragging Cassie Ventura, his former girlfriend.

The hotel surveillance video, dated March 5, 2016, and obtained by CNN, captured multiple camera angles of the alleged assault.

In the footage, released on Friday, Cassie is seen in a black sweater with the hood up and duffle bag in hand calling an elevator in what the news platform reports is the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles.

The music mogul is then captured chasing the singer down the hallway in a towel. Diddy catches up with Cassie, striking and yanking her by the hair while throwing her to the ground.

The rapper also kicks Ventura twice while she stays on the ground, picking up her bag and dragging her back toward the hotel room.

The incident appeared to have corroborated several allegations made in a now-settled federal lawsuit filed by Cassie in November 2023.

In the lawsuit, the singer claimed she was trafficked, raped, and beaten by Combs on many occasions over 10 years.

The lawsuit labelled the musician a “serial domestic abuser, who would regularly beat and kick Ms Ventura, leaving black eyes, bruises, and blood”.

Diddy denied the allegations, calling them “offensive and outrageous”.

The rapper and Cassie’s relationship began in 2007. They made their public debut as a couple in 2012.

The pair, however, broke up after a heated argument in 2018.
