Published

on

Following the successful debut in June of Massimo Industry Hangout where two stand out practitioners in the events industry – Olugbuyi Ogunnaike, the brain behind Icebox, a household name in the business of drink supplies, and Foluke Adedokun, the CEO of FruitieWorld, a smoothie company –were honoured with recognition awards, the organizers of the hangout are set to celebrate another set of professionals at its second edition.

For the July edition, Tobi Fletcher, the creative mind behind the phenomenally ‘Ofadaboy’ and Oluwatoyin Deborah Oyesanya, the Chief Executive Officer of ‘Royal Hugs Surprises’ will be honoured on Sunday, 30 July 2023, at the Alexia’s Place in Opebi, Ikeja, Lagos.

Prince Layinka Oyedeji, the brain behind the Maximo Industry Hangout, disclosed that this month’s event will be a night of premium enjoyment as the two industry standouts get their deserved recognitions.

“We are celebrating these two practitioners for their toils and enterprises in the events industry. Ofadaboy with his packaging, taste and presentation has changed people’s perception of local rice at parties. He has influenced a lot of vendors in presenting Ofada rice so nicely that Ofada has become the top choice at parties. Royal Hugs Surprises, on her part, have carved a niche for itself by springing surprises for people who are in a celebratory mood for their birthdays, anniversaries and many other honorary events. Her signature lifting of celebrants off their feet is awesome and unique while her energy in carrying people up regardless of their weight is commendable,” said Oyedeji, a renowned entertainment entrepreneur with over two decades’ experiences in the showbiz and events industries.

He added that before receiving their commemorative plaques at the event, the citations of both Fletcher and Oyesanya will be read and they will later share their wide range of experience in the industry with guests and the media.

The dynamic Aristos Band will be on the bandstand to entertain the distinguished guests.

The Massimo Industry Hangout —in partnership with Alexia’s Place, a premium hospitality outfit in the heart of Ikeja— creates a fun-filled and convivial atmosphere to honour and celebrate the practitioners –a male and female– behind successful events; those who you don’t see but whose ingenuity and professionalism help to ensure the successful outcome of both corporate and social events.

It is a monthly evening of music and merriment, cocktails and canapés, and other assortments that enliven a party.

The two-day festival took place on April 6 and 7.

During his performance of ‘Calm Down’, his hit track, the music star abruptly stopped the show due to sound issues.

He also called for equal treatment regarding sound quality for all artistes.

“Hold on, there are too many sound issues. it is messing up my whole performance I am seriously not feeling this sh*t at all,” he said

Controversy trails Flavour’s performance at RCCG pastor Siju’s party

Siju, a pastor and wife of the Idowu Iluyomade, a senior pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David, Lagos, has set tongues wagging on social media for inviting secular singer Flavour to perform at her birthday party.

Siju, who is also a lawyer, speaker and activist, turned 60 last week.

She then celebrated the occasion at the Eko Hotels in Victoria Island in a grand style on Sunday.

The colourful and glamorous birthday party was graced by some notable figures, monarchs and the crème de la crème of the entertainment industry.

The attendees included Tony Elumelu, Toke Makinwa, Ali Baba, and Kenny Saint Brown, as well as Rasaq and Shade Okoya, among others.

In viral videos, Flavour, who was one of the performing artistes, was seen entertaining the guests with hit songs from his music catalogue.

In one of the videos, the singer also serenaded the celebrant on stage while she danced along to his performance.

The footage, however, attracted heated controversy on social media. Several Nigerians on X questioned why a secular artiste like Flavour should be performing at the birthday party of a pastor.

“When you see 60th birthday celebration of PASTOR Siju Illuyomade, then you will know why some people are STILL running away from church!” a user wrote.

Another user added in a lengthy post: “RCCG Pastor Siju Iluyomade, the wife of the senior Pastor of one of the biggest RCCG Parish held her 60th birthday party this weekend and Flavour was the lead artist but no gospel musician”.

Here is what some users had to say:
