Troops arrest two suspected kidnappers, foil abduction attempt in Kaduna
Nigerian troops have arrested two suspected kidnappers during security operations in Kaduna State.
The suspects were arrested at Makasa village in Sanga Local Government Area by troops of Sector 7, Sub-Sector 71 of Operation Enduring Peace.
Security reports said the arrests took place on Friday as troops continued operations against kidnapping and other criminal activities in the area.
In a separate operation, troops also foiled an attempted kidnapping along the Godogodo-Gidan Waya road in Jema’a Local Government Area.
The intervention reportedly forced the attackers to flee and abandon a victim who had sustained gunshot injuries.
The victim was taken to the General Hospital in Gidan Waya for treatment while security personnel continued efforts to track the fleeing attackers.
The Kaduna operations were part of wider military activities carried out across several states between October 1 and 2.
During the broader operations, troops rescued kidnapped victims in Edo, Benue and Kogi states.
In Edo, soldiers rescued three victims after responding to a kidnapping incident along the Ekor-Ikakumo road in Akoko-Edo.
Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke also rescued victims during separate operations in Benue and Kogi.
The two people arrested in Kaduna remain suspects, and the arrests should not be treated as findings of guilt.
