OAP Nedu recalls ‘going through hell’ after divorce

Published

on

Nedu Wazobia, the on-air personality (OAP), has recalled his struggles after his divorce from Uzoamaka Ohiri, his ex-wife.

In 2013, Nedu tied the knot with Uzoamaka — but their marriage crashed in 2018 following a paternity scandal.

During a recent chat with MTV Base Africa, the OAP said he went through a challenging period while leaving his marriage in 2017/2018.

He said he continued to post comedy skits despite “going through hell and anxiety attacks”.

He said he eventually healed from the situation, adding that someone unknowingly played a role in his recovery.

“Getting off my first marriage was the most difficult period in my life. The funny thing is, it was 2017/2018, I was going through hell, but nobody knew,” he said.

“You know how it is when you are taking a walk, and your heart is skipping for no reason. I was under anxiety attacks. But guess what? I was doing comedy skits and posting daily. But I was going through hell.

“Yes, I have healed fully from that situation, 150 per cent. The person that healed me does not even know she was the one that healed me.

“I healed even before I left the marriage because if you are not healed, you can not move on. So, I got to a point where I was healed a bit, and then I moved on and then totally got healed much later.”

Halima Hassan, the mother of Rico Swavey, the late reality TV star, has opened up on coping with his death.

Swavey died on October 13, 2022 — a few days after he was involved in a ghastly car accident. He was buried in Lagos on October 20 of the same year.

In an interview on the ‘WithChude’ podcast, Hassan revealed she still talks to Rico’s pictures hung around her home while sharing her daily routine as if he were present.

She said the ritual brings her comfort and helps her cope with the loss. She said she made a promise to Rico after he was taken off life support.

“When he passed on, why I requested to stay with him at that very moment, I said to him ‘the music that you could not bring out, I will help you bring them out, I will do the remaining work for you, I am not going to let your hard work just go like that,’” she said.

“I still have Rico’s pictures all over the house. Every time I look at him, I smile and I say ‘Rico it’s another day for me, I am going out today’ and I will try to talk to the picture to tell him what I am doing for the day, then I will leave. I say my prayers every morning. Tell God to give me the courage to move on with my life.”
