Cassie accuses ex-lover Diddy of rape, abuse in lawsuit
Diddy, the US rapper, has been sued by Cassie, his ex-girlfriend, over alleged rape and abuse.
According to a lawsuit, the R&B vocalist alleged that the rapper used drugs and alcohol to gain control over her and keep her trapped in a cycle of abuse.
She claimed that Diddy signed her to Bad Boy, his record label, but rather than fostering her musical career, he subjected her to a life of fear and degradation.
Born Casandra Elizabeth Ventura, Cassie also alleged that the rapper repeatedly raped and beat her during their 10-year relationship.
The lawsuit labels the musician a “serial domestic abuser, who would regularly beat and kick Ms Ventura, leaving black eyes, bruises, and blood”.
In her statement, Cassie said “after years in silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story.
“To speak up on behalf of myself and for the benefit of other women who face violence and abuse in their relationships.”
Diddy has, however, denied the allegations, calling them “offensive and outrageous”. He also accused Cassie of extortion.
Benjamin Brafman, his lawyer, claimed that Cassie attempted to blackmail Diddy with a damaging book about their relationship, demanding $30 million (£24 million) to keep her silence.
In response, Doug Wigdor, Cassie’s lawyer, refuted the claims and alleged that Diddy offered the actress an eight-figure sum to silence her and prevent the lawsuit.
He said “Cassie is not seeking financial gain but rather justice and a voice for victims of abuse”.
The lawsuit also includes an allegation that Diddy threatened to blow up a car owned by Kid Cudi, a rapper, with whom Cassie was in a relationship at the time.
According to the complaint, Diddy made the threat during Paris Fashion Week in 2012, and shortly after, Kid Cudi’s car exploded in his driveway.
Diddy and Cassie’s relationship began in 2007. They made their public debut as a couple in 2012.
The pair, however, broke up after a heated argument in 2018.

‘I don’t regret it’ — Jennifer Lopez speaks on divorce from Ben Affleck
Jennifer Lopez, the US actress and singer, has opened up about her divorce from Ben Affleck, her ex-husband.
The Hollywood stars tied the knot in July 2022. Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024 and revealed that they had been separated since April 26.
Speaking on the latest issue of Interview Magazine, Lopez said her divorce almost “took me out for good” but she did not regret her decision.
The actress said she is currently “not looking for anybody” but the initial feelings of the breakup left her feeling “lonely and desperate”.
The 55-year-old added that she does not have everything figured out but is “excited to be free and flying on my own”.
“It feels lonely, unfamiliar, scary. It feels sad. It feels desperate. But when you sit in those feelings and go, ‘These things are not going to kill me,’ it’s like, I am capable of joy and happiness all by myself,” she said.
“Being in a relationship doesn’t define me. I can’t be looking for happiness in other people. I have to have happiness within myself.
“I used to say I’m a happy person, but was still looking for something for somebody else to fill. I don’t regret it one second. That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did.
“But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, “That is exactly what I needed. Thank you, God. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times. I should have learned it two or three times ago.”
The pair first started dating in July 2002 and engaged in November. They were due to marry in September 2003 but postponed the wedding just days before the ceremony only to split in January 2004.
Lopez and Affleck, however, rekindled their romance shortly after the actress ended her two-year engagement with Alex Rodriguez in 2021.

Kanye West, Bianca Censori set for divorce
Kanye West, the US rapper, and Bianca Censori, his wife, are reportedly on the brink of divorce.
According to TMZ, multiple sources claimed Ye and Censori called it quits a few weeks ago.
The insiders also alleged that Bianca, who works as an architect for Yeezy, Kanye’s fashion brand, returned to Australia to spend time with her family.
While the exact reason for the split remains unclear, sources claimed that Kanye has been telling those close to him about his plans to relocate to Tokyo. The rapper has been seen alone in Japan on several occasions.
He was seen enjoying a meal at a local Jamaican restaurant without his wife earlier this month, while his last solo outing saw him at a wrestling event in September.
The couple was last photographed together on September 20 during a shopping trip.
As of the time of this report, neither Kanye nor his representatives have addressed the rumours of the breakup.
Kanye and Bianca tied the knot in an intimate, private ceremony in January 2023.
Earlier this year, Kanye publicly defended his wife against criticism of her fashion choices, calling for an end to the negative commentary.
This would mark Kanye’s second high-profile split, following his divorce from Kim Kardashian, the reality TV star, with whom he shares four children.
Their eight-year marriage officially ended in November 2022 due to “irreconcilable differences.”

We are family – Rapper DDG addresses breakup with actress Halle Bailey
Days after announcing that he and his child’s mother, Halle Bailey, broke up, DDG has addressed the backlash he received on social media over the news.
Speaking on a recent episode of the No Ordinary podcast, the rapper emphasised that their split is a natural part of life and insisted that he and Halle remain family.
He said, “I have announced that me and Halle have split up, right? It’s life , it happens, she’s still family and I love her to death no matter what. Everything is still good and you never know what the future holds. Anything past that statement is nobody’s business.”
He expressed frustration over the speculation surrounding their breakup, noting that he was aware of the narratives being spun about him and the Little Mermaid actress.
DDG explained, “I have seen people creating stories, timelines and stuff. Nobody was wrong in this situation; nobody has come out to say he did this or she did that, no! Me and Halle are family and we are good; we’re just taking a little break; we don’t know what can happen in the future.”
“Beyond that statement is none of your business but y’all keep going. I go through my comments, mentions and DMs, and I see people who have no idea what’s going on talking,” he added.
“I don’t know anything about your life and you don’t know anything about mine, you know just a tiny bit because I allowed you to. When public figures give you a statement, take the statement and mind your business,” he concluded.
