AGN appreciates Tinubu over intervention in Zack Orji’s health issues
Zack Orji, the ace actor, has departed Nigeria to the United Kingdom for a post-surgery assessment.
Orji slumped on December 29 and was admitted to the intensive care unit of the national hospital in Abuja.
In January, Hannatu Musawa, the culture minister, revealed the actor underwent brain surgery and called for support for him.
It was gathered that Orji later underwent two successful brain surgeries and now requires further evaluation abroad.
In a now-viral footage, the film star was spotted with his luggage at the airport before his departure on Friday.
Speaking on Orji’s medical trip in a statement, Emeka Rollas, the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his “fatherly intervention” regarding the wellness of the ailing actor.
He also confirmed that Orji left for the United Kingdom for a post-surgery checkup.
“On behalf of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, the National President, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, MON, has expressed deep appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu, GCFR for his fatherly intervention on the health of the former President of the Guild, Mr. Zack Orji who has departed to the United Kingdom for post-surgery assessment,” the statement reads in part.
“Dr. Rollas also commended the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her motherly care towards the veteran actor as well as the son of the President, Seyi Tinubu for his inflicting support.
“Also worthy of his appreciation is the Minister for women affair Barr. Uju Kennedy Ohanenye for her relentless efforts in ensuring Zack Orji gets back on his feet hale and hearty while he equally extended his profound gratitude to his longtime friend, Ahmed Bala for standing by him all through the period.”
The AGN president also thanked Tinubu on the appointments of Ali Nuhu as managing director of Nigeria Film Corporation, Shaibu Husseini; director general of the National Fim and Video Censors Board, and Obi Osika; Director General, Council for Arts and Culture.
Rollas earlier dismissed rumours that Orji had passed away.
Chiwetalu Agu, the ace actor, also slammed people spreading death rumours about Orji.

Diddy indicted on sex trafficking, racketeering charges
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, the embattled US rapper, has been charged with sex trafficking and racketeering.
The Associated Press reports that a federal indictment was unsealed on Tuesday — a few hours after the rapper was arrested by officers with Homeland Security Investigations at the hotel where he was staying, the Park Hyatt New York on 57th Street.
The 54-year-old media mogul has been in the public eye since November 2023 after several women, including Cassie Ventura, the rapper’s ex-girlfriend, took him to court, claiming they were sexually assaulted.
Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, Diddy’s former producer, also filed a lawsuit alleging that the rapper sexually harassed, drugged, and threatened him for over a year.
In March, the United States Department of Homeland Security raided two properties linked to Diddy.
In May, a video surfaced showing Combs assaulting Cassie in 2016.
Diddy, who had denied Cassie’s claims, however, apologised. He said he was “truly sorry” and that his actions were “inexcusable”.

‘I contracted HIV after cheating on my wife 31 years ago’ — Nigerian man opens up
A Nigerian man identified as Salisu Ahmed has shared his experience living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) for 31 years.
In a recent interview with reality star Doyin David, Ahmed revealed that he contracted the virus after his first extramarital sexual encounter.
He discussed the stigma he faced, including being denied access to a shared toilet and bathroom, losing his teaching job, and being abandoned by his wife and children.
“I am Salisu Ahmed, I have been living with this virus for 31 years,” he said.
“The first experiment of going outside my matrimonial home is how it happened. It has been proven that about 85 to 90 percent of people living with HIV contracted this thing through sexual intercourse.
“I was denied the use of the bathroom of the compound, I was not allowed to access the toilet, I was formerly a teacher so I was asked honourably to stop coming to the school.
“She packed everything including the children at home, they left me.”

‘I didn’t know he’s a man of God’ — Portable apologises for slapping preacher
Portable, the controversial singer, has apologised for slapping a man who he claimed was preaching close to his bar.
Last week, the ‘Zazoo Zeh’ hitmaker shared a video wherein he confronted the preacher outside his establishment in Sango Ota, Ogun state.
The apparently infuriated singer queried the middle-aged man before slapping him.
Portable was heavily criticised on social media for slapping the man who appeared to hold a Bible.
But in an Instagram post on Monday, Portable explained that he wouldn’t have slapped the preacher if he knew he was a “true man of God”.
The singer said “I am a human being and I’m not perfect” while apologising for his actions.
Portable said he attacked the preacher because he believed the “man was at my bar to inflict spiritual harm on me”.
“My fans, they wanted to see me up. Yes, may God forgive me because I didn’t know that he is a man of God. If I knew that he was a man of God, I wouldn’t have slapped him,” he said.
“It was his behavior that caused it. I’m a human being and I’m not perfect. I’m also a child of God, I’m also God’s messenger.
“Something made me angry, I’m an orphan. They’ve done something bad to my sister, they searched for me but didn’t meet me at home.
“After my mum died, she was the one who raised me but now I’m taking care of her. I had a dream that someone harmed me, then this man came to my bar on a Monday morning.”
Gospel singer Testimony Jaga had earlier given Portable a three-day ultimatum to apologise to the preacher.
