Burna Boy makes 2024 Time’s 100 most influential people list
Burna Boy, the Nigerian singer, has landed on Time Magazine’s list of 100 most influential people for 2024.
Time Magazine’s annual compilation celebrates individuals who have left a significant mark on the world through their contributions in various fields.
Released on Wednesday, the list categorises individuals into six distinguished groups: Titans, Innovators, Pioneers, Artistes, Leaders, and Icons.
Burna Boy earned the title of an ‘Icon’ with Angelique Kidjo, the legendary singer, penning a tribute for him on Time’s website.
She hailed him as “history in the making” and stated that he has a unique flow and sound that captivates audiences globally.
“Burna Boy’s deeply original flow and his signature groove have conquered the world with an impressive series of firsts: in 2023, he became the first African artist to sell out a U.S. stadium, and in 2024, he became the first Afrobeats artist to sing at the Grammys,” she wrote.
“He is history in the making. Now a whole generation of young people from the continent is looking up to him.”
