Ailing actor Sule Suebebe is dead

Dayo Adewunmi, the ace Nigerian actor fondly called Sule Suebebe, has passed away.

The Yoruba actor died on Wednesday morning at an undisclosed hospital in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

Agbala Gabriel, the Nigerian cleric, confirmed Suebebe’s demise via a Facebook post.

“It is a pity baba Suebebe died at hospital this morning. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” he wrote.

The cause of his death remains to be known.

However, the Ekiti-based thespian previously cried out for financial support to foot his medical bills.

The actor was said to be battling health issues and could not walk. Gabriel was said to have been caring for him in recent months.

In July last year, Suebebe also apologised to the women he dated and may have offended during his youthful years.

“Please, I want to ask for forgiveness. Please, I want everyone I have offended to forgive me,” the actor begged in Yoruba language.

“… I was just living life recklessly. I engaged in minor activities, and I was making money constantly. However, I did not have a mentor to warn me about my lifestyle. None of my relatives advised me.

“Nigerians, please. Anyone I have wronged, knowingly or unknowingly. Please forgive me. I should prostrate while begging, but my health won’t allow me.

“Please forgive me, especially all the women I have offended. I know I have stepped on toes regarding the issue of women.”

He was featured in several movies including ‘Suku Suku Bam Bam’ and ‘Ago Kan Oru’.

Seyi Law, the renowned stand-up comedian, has opened up about his relationships with his senior colleagues.

In a recent episode of Trending by Hip TV, the 41-year-old emphasized his respect for veteran comedians like Alibaba, Julius Agwu, AY Makun, and Basketmouth.

He said his focus is on collective success over individual competition, adding that “I don’t want to be one of those people dragging ranking with anybody”.

“At some point in the comedy industry, there was no rift and there wasn’t any reason to start categorising the comedians. I have played with everybody and I still respect everybody,” he said.

“We respect the likes of Alibaba. At some point, I had to go on a comedy tour with Julius Agwu who did not discriminate against me. I have covered events for Basketmouth. He has paid me for shows. I’ve also worked with AY

“As a Yoruba person, we don’t disrespect anybody who has given us food. So, they are all highly respected. I respect them a lot. And no matter the differences they have, they’re still my senior colleagues in the business. And they have not had reasons to compete with me.

“So anywhere you place me on the ranking is okay by me. I don’t want to be one of those people who is dragging ranking with anybody in the industry. As long as we are all doing fine, kudos. The most important thing is that we must not allow the industry to suffer.”

Portable has lashed out at VeryDarkMan (VDM), the activist, who criticised him for allegedly assaulting a man during Felabration 2024.

Felabration, the annual event honouring Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, the late Afrobeat icon, ran from October 14 to 20, with Portable among the performers.

On Monday, VDM shared a video on Instagram showing Portable involved in a physical altercation with a man in a bathroom.

He condemned Portable’s behaviour and urged the victim to contact him so they can report the incident to the police.

In response, Portable warned VDM not to provoke him and threatened to beat him up if they ever crossed paths.

“Online madness is different from real-life madness,” he said.

“I will bend you, I will mend you, I will cripple you. I am a one-man battalion. If I catch you.

“You are using Abuja to threaten me. Go and ask about me in Maraba, Nyanya, and Babangida market. I am a Lagos boy.”

Portable defended his actions, claiming the man he allegedly assaulted owed him money for five shows and had disappeared for six months.

“My fans should understand who I was beating. We had a man-to-man fight. This guy collected money for five shows and disappeared for six months. Are you my manager?” Portable added.

The singer further accused the social media celebrity of meddling in his affairs.

He also suggested that VDM’s involvement could damage his relationships with influential figures who support him and other entertainers.
