Students were evacuated from Arena Academy in Birmingham on Thursday morning following a reported bomb threat, prompting a swift police response and the implementation of emergency protocols.

West Midlands Police confirmed that officers attended the school in the Great Barr area after being alerted to the threat, which had been received by email. While authorities later stated that there was no indication of a credible threat to the safety of students or staff, officers remained at the scene as a precaution.

The school issued an alert to parents shortly after the incident began, advising them of the evacuation and the steps being taken to ensure the safety of pupils. The message, reportedly sent out by a nearby institution, Priestley Smith School, read: “We have received a message from Priestley Smith School this morning informing us there has been a bomb threat. We are not sure if this is a credible threat but we’re following our protocols and currently evacuating to Turnbury Park. Police are also supporting us. We will keep you fully informed.”

Following the evacuation, the school confirmed that students would not be returning for the remainder of the day. The premises continued to be searched by police as part of ongoing safety checks.

Authorities have not released further details about the source or content of the threat but confirmed the matter is being investigated.
