The search for the next actor to play James Bond has officially begun, with Amazon MGM Studios launching the casting process for the iconic British spy role.

A spokesperson for Amazon MGM Studios confirmed the development, saying: “While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right.” Industry sources also revealed that acclaimed casting director Nina Gold has been brought in to help oversee the search for the next 007.

Gold is widely known for her work on the hit fantasy series Game of Thrones and has previously worked on several major Hollywood productions. Details surrounding the casting process are being kept tightly under wraps, with no indication yet of which actors may already be auditioning or in talks for the role.

The update marks one of the biggest developments for Bond fans since Daniel Craig stepped down from the franchise following the release of No Time to Die in 2021. Interest in the future of the franchise has remained high ever since Amazon acquired MGM, gaining control of the James Bond intellectual property as part of the deal.

The only major confirmed update about the next Bond film prior to the casting news was the announcement that Denis Villeneuve, director of Dune, had been selected to helm the upcoming instalment. The race to become the next James Bond is expected to spark intense speculation across Hollywood as fans await news on who will inherit one of cinema’s most iconic roles
