Ireland opens funded scholarship applications for Nigerians
The Embassy of Ireland in Nigeria has announced that applications for the 2026 Ireland Fellows Programme will open on June 29, offering eligible Nigerians the opportunity to pursue a fully funded Master’s degree in Ireland.
The embassy disclosed the development in a post on its X account on Friday, June 26, stating that the scholarship programme is open to early and mid-career professionals from Nigeria and Ghana seeking to undertake a one-year Master’s programme at Irish universities. “Applications for the Ireland Fellows Programme opens on 29 June 2026! Apply for the opportunity to study in Ireland on a fully funded master’s scholarship,” the embassy said.
According to the embassy, applicants from Nigeria and Ghana can obtain further information about the programme and application process through the official Ireland Fellows Programme portal.
To qualify, applicants must be resident nationals of Nigeria or Ghana, hold at least a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower, and possess at least three years of relevant work experience. The embassy noted that Nigerian applicants are also eligible for the Roger Casement Fellowship in Human Rights, which supports Master’s programmes in law, human rights and governanc.
The scholarship covers tuition fees, monthly living allowances, accommodation support, airfare, visa expenses and health insurance. Applications will open on June 29, 2026, and close on July 26, 2026. Interested candidates are expected to submit their applications through the official Ireland Fellows Programme website.
