The Federal Government is finalizing arrangements to receive a fresh batch of 270 Nigerian citizens from South Africa on Wednesday. The incoming flight marks the latest phase in the government’s coordinated, voluntary evacuation program designed to bring nationals home safely.

According to an official announcement on Monday by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, a chartered Air Peace aircraft has been mobilized for the mission and is scheduled to depart Lagos for Johannesburg on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

The logistics plan outlines a tight turnaround for the transport aircraft to minimize delays. The outbound flight will leave Lagos in the afternoon, positioning itself in South Africa by midnight to immediately begin boarding the waiting passengers.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided the exact operational timeline in an official statement:

“In continuation of the ongoing evacuation of our nationals from South Africa, the AirPeace aircraft deployed for the process is expected to depart Lagos tomorrow, Tuesday 7 July, 2026 for Johannesburg, South Africa at 3.30pm. The aircraft will depart Johannesburg for Lagos with 270 returnees at 12.00 midnight, and the estimated time of arrival at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos is 5.00am on Wednesday, 8 July, 2026, all things being equal.”

This upcoming arrival marks the fourth successful aviation milestone under the current state-backed evacuation program. The initiative relies on the partnership between federal authorities and domestic aviation partners to assist citizens who have expressed a desire to return home.

Emergency management agencies, migration officials, and airport authorities in Lagos are already preparing reception protocols to process the 270 passengers seamlessly upon their early morning arrival on Wednesday. These processing measures will include standard documentation updates and brief profiling to help the returnees reintegrate smoothly.
