11 terrorists surrender as troops arrest four suspects in Yobe

Eleven terrorists have surrendered to troops while four suspected Boko Haram members were arrested during separate military operations in Yobe State, according to Operation HADIN KAI.

Acting Military Information Officer Captain Mohammed Goni said the developments were recorded during operations conducted between September 15 and 22.

In one operation, troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade, working with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, laid an ambush east of Azare village in Gujba Local Government Area on September 21.

The troops encountered suspected terrorists and engaged them in a firefight.

Following the encounter, four suspects were arrested while other members of the group reportedly fled.

Items recovered included four bicycles, groceries, a sheep and expended 7.62mm ammunition cases.

The military said the suspects remain in custody while investigations continue.

In another operation, nine suspected drug dealers were arrested during a patrol in Buni Yadi on September 19.

The military said suspected illicit drugs, cannabis, mobile phones and N85,900 were recovered before the suspects and exhibits were handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

Operation HADIN KAI also reported that 11 terrorists surrendered during the wider period under review.
