El-Rufai says he bears no resentment toward those who abandoned him

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai says he holds no hatred or resentment toward friends, colleagues or associates who have distanced themselves from him during what he described as a reversal of circumstances.

El-Rufai made the remarks in a statement titled My Relationships and the Aftermath, shared on his X account.

The former governor said he had supported individuals and causes throughout his life because he believed doing so was right rather than because he expected loyalty or repayment later.

According to El-Rufai, people he previously supported were free to decide how they responded to his present circumstances.

He acknowledged that some could speak in his support, while others might remain silent, distance themselves or reinterpret their previous relationship with him.

El-Rufai said adversity had helped him see some relationships more clearly but stressed that his reflections should not be interpreted as condemnation.

He maintained that he had no regrets about helping people when he believed it was right to do so.

The former FCT minister also said he would not seek revenge over what he regarded as injustice, ingratitude or personal injury, adding that he would leave ultimate judgment to God.

His comments come amid a period of political and legal developments involving the former Kaduna governor.
