Kim Kardashian awarded symbolic $1.15 over 2016 Paris robbery

American reality television star Kim Kardashian has been awarded symbolic damages of one euro, approximately $1.15, by a Paris court over the 2016 armed robbery in which she was held at gunpoint and robbed of millions of dollars worth of jewellery.

The amount was not the result of the court placing a $1.15 value on Kardashian’s ordeal.

Kardashian herself requested the symbolic one-euro payment, emphasising accountability and recognition rather than financial compensation.

The robbery occurred during Paris Fashion Week in October 2016 when assailants disguised as police entered Kardashian’s accommodation at the Hôtel de Pourtalès.

Kardashian was restrained and held at gunpoint while jewellery worth millions of dollars was stolen.

Among the stolen items was an engagement ring reportedly worth about $4 million.

Most of the stolen jewellery has never been recovered.

Kardashian’s stylist and longtime friend Simone Harouche, who was present at the hotel during the incident, was also awarded the symbolic one euro she requested.

Following the latest court decision, Kardashian and Harouche said the experience had been deeply traumatic and continued to affect them.

They said the ruling was about accountability and recognition rather than compensation and thanked the French justice system and those who supported them throughout the case.

A former hotel receptionist who also suffered trauma during the robbery was awarded more than €109,000 in damages, while the hotel itself received €50,000.

Several defendants were previously convicted in connection with the robbery.
