Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 10 civilians abducted by suspected terrorists in Katsina State.

The victims were travelling in a commercial vehicle along the Funtua-Faskari axis when suspected terrorists intercepted the vehicle and forced the occupants into a nearby bush.

Troops of Sector 2 reportedly responded to a distress call and moved to the area in pursuit of the attackers.

The troops subsequently engaged the suspected terrorists, forcing them to retreat into the forest and abandon the abducted travellers.

All 10 victims were rescued unharmed and escorted to Sheme Market, where they were reunited with their communities.

In a separate operation in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area, troops working with the Nigeria Police Force intercepted a vehicle suspected to have been stolen.

Two suspects, identified as Abdulmalik Haruna, 28, and Mohammed Kabir, 44, were arrested.

The suspects and recovered vehicle were handed over to the police for further investigation.

Troops operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have continued security operations across parts of Nigeria’s North-West in response to kidnapping, banditry and other security threats.
