The 10th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) will be held in Lagos on May 11, 2024.

The AMVCA is an annual award ceremony that celebrates the artistic and technical merits in the movie industry around the African continent.

The award organisers announced the activities for the 10th edition at a press conference held on Tuesday.

They added that this year’s ceremony will span two days — between May 10 and 11 — and will celebrate film production talents, culture, fashion, music, and other elements of African entertainment.

The nominees list for this year’s edition will also be out on March 24.

Speaking on the nominations for each category, the organisers said it is subjective to “specific criterias and processes” by the jury.

“The nominations of the AMVCA are determined by specific criterias and processes determined by the jury in conjunction with Delloite,” they said.

“Some of the key criterias taken into consideration for nominations include the eligibility period, categories, the submissions process and voting process.”

The organisers had earlier revealed that some changes had been made to this year’s edition of the award ceremony.

One of such major changes is that the award categories have been reduced from 33 to 27, adding that the development was in order “to meet global trends and standards”.

The 10th edition of AMVCA will now see winners in 25 categories — including 2 special recognition awards.
