The 10th edition of the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) is set to take place on May 11, 2024, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

In March, the organizers announced the nomination list ahead of this year’s event which usually celebrates outstanding achievements across the film and entertainment industry.

TheCable Lifestyle examines the first-time nominees seeking to clinch awards in the 2024 AMVCA scheduled for Saturday.

1. Tana Adelana

Tana began her career as a TV presenter but eventually delved into acting and burst onto the scenes for her role in ‘Disclosure’, the drama series. She has since been featured in movies such as ‘Two Brides and a Baby’, ‘Under the Carpet’, ‘Ijeawele’, ‘The Bling Lagosians’ and ‘The Influencer’.

Adelana finally received her first AMVCA nomination this year in the ‘Best Supporting Actress’ category for her role in ‘Ijogbon: The Chaos’.

2. Ibrahim Yekini

Yekini, also known as Itele D Icon, is popular in the Yoruba movie industry. Having a career spanning over a decade, it is rather surprising that the actor is just receiving his first AMVCA nomination.

Itele was nominated in the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ category for his role as Gbogunmi in Femi Adebayo’s ‘Jagun Jagun: The Warrior’.

3. Ademola Adedoyin

Demola’s role in ‘October 1st’, the 2014 movie by Kunle Afolayan, marked a turning point in his illustrious career. He would further showcase his acting prowess in “King of Boys’, ‘The Bridge’, ‘God Calling’ and ‘Ile Owo’.

His hard work finally paid off as he was also nominated in the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ category for his role in ‘Breath of Life’.

4. Layi Wasabi

Since bursting onto the scenes with his creative and humorous content, Layi has continued to dominate the media space. For a first-time nominee, he bagged not one but two nominations in the same category but with different projects.

His skits ‘Medical Negligence’ and ‘Copyright Infringement’ earned him nominations in the ‘Best Digital Content’ category.

5. Adaobi Dibor

Adaobi Dibor bagged her first AMVCA nomination in the ‘Best Lead Actress’ category for the movie ‘Blood Vessel’.

The actress has also appeared in movies such as ‘Mamba’s Diamonds’, ‘My Flatmates’ and ‘Glamour Girls’.

6. David Ezekiel

The movie ‘Blood Vessel’ earned David Ezekiel his first AMVCA nomination in the ‘Best Lead Actor’ category.

The feat also makes him the youngest actor nominated in the category.
