Salah, who is set to leave Liverpool this summer after nine years at the club, sparked controversy last weekend after calling on the Reds to change their style of play in comments widely seen as criticism of Slot’s football philosophy.

Speaking ahead of the crucial Premier League clash, Slot declined to reveal whether the Egypt forward would be involved.

As reported by BBC Sport on Friday, Slot was quoted as saying, “I never say anything about team selection.” Slot said when asked if Salah would feature against Brentford.

Liverpool need at least a point from the match to secure qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Tensions between Slot and Salah have been evident throughout the season. Earlier in the campaign, the 33-year-old was left out of the squad for Liverpool’s Champions League trip to Inter Milan after publicly admitting that his relationship with the Dutch manager had broken down.

Responding to Salah’s latest comments, Slot insisted his priority remains helping Liverpool finish the season strongly.

“I don’t think it is that important what I feel about it,” Slot said. “What is important is that we qualify for the Champions League on Sunday and I prepare Mo and the whole team in the best possible way for the game.”

The Liverpool manager also admitted he has been dissatisfied with aspects of the team’s performances this season and suggested changes will be made going forward.

“I have to find a way to evolve this team now and definitely in the summer and in the upcoming season to be successful again, and to play a brand of football that I like.

“If I like it, then the fans will like it as well because I haven’t liked a lot of the way we played this season,” he added.

Salah is expected to leave Anfield at the end of the season, bringing an end to a glittering spell that has seen him become one of Liverpool’s greatest-ever players.
