Liverpool complete £123m Barcola transfer from PSG

Liverpool have completed the signing of France forward Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth up to £123 million, strengthening their squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

The transfer was confirmed by BBC Sport, with Liverpool paying an initial £106 million plus £17 million in potential add-ons for the 23-year-old.

Barcola has signed a five-year contract and becomes Liverpool’s fifth new arrival of the summer, following Victor Munoz, Jeremy Jacquet, Ronald Araujo and Ifeanyi Ndukwe.

“It took a long time but I’m really happy today to be able to play for Liverpool and all I want is to be on the pitch and be able to play,” Barcola said.

The France international immediately set out his ambition at Anfield, identifying Premier League success as his priority.

“I hope to achieve very big things. First of all, winning the Premier League – it’s one of my biggest dreams in my life.”

Barcola’s previous experience of playing at Anfield also influenced his decision to join the Reds.

“I had the chance to play twice in this stadium and I saw the atmosphere and how the fans were behind the Liverpool players,” he told Liverpool’s official website.

“When I knew about Liverpool’s interest in me, I didn’t ask questions and I knew it was a very big club for me.”

The former PSG forward will wear No. 29 at Liverpool.

His arrival comes as the club continues to reshape its attacking options, with Manchester City in talks with Liverpool over Cody Gakpo before the transfer window closes.

Liverpool are also reportedly monitoring Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh and Crystal Palace’s Ismaila Sarr as the deadline approaches.

Barcola’s £123 million move, meanwhile, represents another major statement from Liverpool as they prepare for the new season and seek to retain their Premier League crown.
