Al-Nassr legend calls for Cristiano Ronaldo exit after heavy Al-Ain defeat
Former Al-Nassr star Fahad Al-Harifi has criticised Cristiano Ronaldo and called for the Portuguese forward to leave the Saudi club following their 4-0 defeat to Al-Ain.
Al-Nassr suffered the heavy loss in their AFC Champions League Elite encounter on Tuesday, with Ronaldo struggling to make a decisive impact on the game.
Speaking after the match, Al-Harifi argued that Ronaldo had not delivered enough value to Al-Nassr either on the pitch or commercially.
He questioned why the club should continue building around the veteran forward and argued that no individual player should be considered more important than the institution.
Al-Harifi also pointed to the financial cost of keeping Ronaldo and said the club should be willing to make a difficult decision if it believes the player is no longer providing the required contribution.
Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in January 2023 and has remained one of the most prominent players in Saudi football.
Despite Al-Harifi’s criticism, Ronaldo has continued to contribute goals during his time at the club.
The former Al-Nassr player’s comments represent his assessment of Ronaldo’s impact and do not indicate that the club has decided to sell or release the Portugal captain.
