Kizz Daniel reveals mother died as he explains break from music

Nigerian singer Kizz Daniel has revealed that he lost his mother earlier this year, explaining that the bereavement was behind his recent absence from the music scene.

The Afrobeats star disclosed the loss while responding to a fan on X who suggested that work on an album may have kept him away.

Kizz Daniel clarified that his break was connected to his mother’s death rather than an album project.

The singer said he had stepped away following the loss but was determined to continue moving forward for the rest of his family.

He also apologised to fans for returning later than expected during the year.

Kizz Daniel did not disclose his mother’s cause of death or the exact date she died in the post reported by the media.

The latest bereavement comes after the singer and his wife lost her mother in November 2024.

At the time, Kizz Daniel announced that his mother-in-law had died after battling breast cancer and asked his fans to remember the family in their prayers.

The singer, whose real name is Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, has previously spoken publicly about other losses within his family while continuing his music career.
