Wike says ADC won’t win Rivers, taunts Amaechi over election-result claims
Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has continued his political confrontation with former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, saying the African Democratic Congress will not win Rivers State in the 2027 elections.
Wike made the comments while addressing a gathering organised by Uzugbani Ekpeye in Ahoada, Rivers State.
The FCT minister responded to Amaechi’s previous claims about election results being manipulated in Rivers and argued that the former transportation minister had repeatedly failed to deliver electoral victories since their political relationship broke down.
Wike recalled serving as director-general of Amaechi’s 2011 governorship campaign and challenged the former governor to identify elections he had won in Rivers after the two men parted ways.
He referred to elections in 2015, 2019 and 2023 while disputing Amaechi’s assessment of his political strength in the state. Vanguard News
During the remarks, Wike used Amaechi’s allegations about election results being “written” to taunt him, saying Amaechi would continue to use the same explanation if he lost again.
The comment should therefore be understood within their political exchange rather than presented as an independently established admission about future election manipulation.
Amaechi is currently the vice-presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress and running mate to Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Wike, meanwhile, leads the Rainbow Coalition, a political movement backing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election while supporting candidates across party lines in other contests.
The exchanges between Wike and Amaechi have intensified as political activity builds ahead of the 2027 elections.
