Adamawa LG chairman Yahya Saidu dies less than three months after taking office

The Chairman of Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Yahya Saidu, has died less than three months after assuming office.

Saidu died in Kaduna on Friday, October 9, 2026. His death was confirmed in condolence messages from political leaders and the Adamawa State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria.

Adamawa ALGON Chairman Titus Obadiah described Saidu as a committed public servant whose death was a major loss to his family, the people of Fufore and Adamawa State.

Saidu was sworn in as chairman of Fufore LGA on July 15, 2026, after emerging on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

His death comes about 18 months after his predecessor, Shuaibu Babas, also died while serving as chairman of the council. Babas died on April 23, 2025.

Aliyu Wakili, who represents Fufore/Song Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, also mourned Saidu, describing his death as an irreparable loss to the people of the area.

He prayed for comfort for the late chairman’s family, friends and associates.

Details surrounding the cause of Saidu’s death had not been officially disclosed at the time of reporting.
