Makinde’s Chief of Staff Segun Ogunwuyi resigns
Segun Ogunwuyi has resigned as Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
Ogunwuyi announced his resignation in a letter dated Monday, October 12, saying the decision took effect immediately.
He did not state a reason for leaving the administration.
Ogunwuyi thanks Makinde, Oyo residents
In his resignation letter, Ogunwuyi described his time in government as an opportunity to contribute to the development of Oyo State.
He expressed pride in the administration’s achievements and thanked Makinde for giving him the opportunity to serve.
Ogunwuyi also expressed confidence in the state’s continued progress after his departure.
The former Chief of Staff previously served in the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives before joining Makinde’s administration.
Resignation fuels political speculation
Ogunwuyi’s exit comes amid heightened political activity in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 elections.
Vanguard reported, citing an unnamed source, that he could defect to the All Progressives Congress following his resignation. However, Ogunwuyi himself has not announced such a move in his resignation letter.
His departure also follows the resignation of other senior officials from the Makinde administration during 2026.
For now, neither Ogunwuyi nor the Oyo State Government has publicly announced his next political move or a replacement Chief of Staff in the material reviewed.
