Jurgen Klopp Responds To Speculation That He’s About To Leave Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has responded to speculation suggesting he is on the verge of leaving Liverpool.

After a horrendous run of form that has seen the champions fall 13 points behind Manchester City and slip into a battle for the top four, the German manager is odds on favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave.

Klopp looked like a broken man as he conceded the title is over for his side following the 3-1 loss to Leicester City and many felt he was in need of a break following the sad passing of his mother.

But having been asked about his future in today’s press conference, Klopp was adamant he will not be going anywhere and does not need to take any time off.

“I don’t need a break,” Klopp said as he previewed Liverpool’s Champions League round of 16 first leg with RB Leipzig.

“Look, the last thing I want to do is to talk about private things in a press conference, but everybody knows privately we had a tough time – that was not only over three weeks, it was for a much longer time and we always deal with it as a family.

“I’ve worked in football for 30 years and as a coach for 20 years. I can split things and switch off. I don’t carry things around. If I’m private, I’m private, if I’m football and in my workplace, then I’m here.

“Of course, we are influenced by things that happen around us but nobody has to worry about me. I might not look like this because the weather’s not good, my beard gets more and more grey, yes I don’t sleep a lot, but I’m full of energy. The situation’s a challenge. I see it as an interesting challenge.”
