Mo AdeniranMo Adeniran, 21 year old Nigerian singer, has emerged the winner of the 2017 edition of The Voice, United Kingdom.

“After months of stellar performances, battle rounds and public votes, Mo Adeniran was crowned the winner of The Voice UK during Sunday night’s live final,” according to Dailymail UK.

Flabbergasted as the result was announced, Adeniran looked on in shock whilst his mentor, singer and Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson immediately burst into tears of happiness.

Adeniran who worked night shifts at a hotel prior to the show, came to the show with his best friend, Max Vickers, who made it through to the semi-finals.

He beat other contestants with his rendition of Iron Sky which had the judges turning their chairs. His victory left him in shock while his mentor, Hudson, burst into tears of joy.

Adeniran who scooped the title with winning performances of Paolo Nutini’s Iron Sky and Unsteady by X Ambassador looked stunned as host Emma Willis announced his name.

He thanked his mentor, Hudson, for her support. “An amazing thank you to the most phenomenal person I have ever met, thank you Jennifer,” he said.

Mo Adeniran’s stirring performance of “Unsteady” had Hudson struggling to contain her emotions.

Blinking back tears, she told him: “Mo, we feel your heart.

He won praise from all the coaches, with Gavin Rossdale gushing: “You have the voice of a generation.”

Adeniran was adopted into a family at the age of three – only to be taken away again at the age of eight after it was discovered his adoptive mother was abusive.

The star was then placed back into social services and his turbulent family life led him to go off the rails as a teen

This came to a head when Mo lost his close pal in 2015 after he died from a drug overdose.

Mike Carter, who was one of Mo’s band mates, battled with an addiction to painkillers which he was taking for chronic back pain.

Tragically, Mo suffered another personal loss when his friends from the band Viola Beach died in a car crash last year.

The band were to play at a tribute concert for Mike before the accident Sweden which killed Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe, and Jack Dakin.

Adeniran was congratulated by his fellow contestants, Jamie Miller and duo, Into The Arkas as confetti fell on the stage.

His mentor, Hudson who could not control her tears, tweeted her delight at his win.

She wrote: “Now that I’m kinda done crying ….OMG!!!!!! CONGRATS @imjustcalledmo #Teamjhud #TheVoiceUk”.

He is now headed to the studio to record his winner’s EP.

‘Ajakaju’ producer, Eniola Ajao makes U-turn, awards ‘best-dressed female’ to two ladies

Eniola Ajao, the movie producer, has apologised over the controversies trailing the ‘best-dressed female’ award presented to Bobrisky, the crossdresser, at her recently-held movie premiere.

‘Ajakaju: Beast of Two Worlds’ premiere was held on Sunday at Circle Mall, Lekki, Lagos.

Femi Adebayo announced the self-acclaimed transgender as the winner of the N1 million attached to the award.

Bobrisky’s victory, however, stirred controversies online with celebrities and fans questioning the parameters used in handing out the award.

There was a heated war of words between actress Dayo Amusa and Omotayo Sanusi, Adebayo’s wife, while Portable, the controversial singer, referred to Bobrisky as a “disgrace to brotherhood”.

But in an Instagram post, Ajao apologised to all the parties involved in the saga.

The filmmaker expressed “reverence for women” while pledging “never to engage in behaviour that diminishes their role in society”.

The movie star explained that the decision to hand Bobrisky the ‘best-dressed female’ award was a “ploy to create publicity” for the movie.

To make amends, Eniola also announced two new winners for the ‘best-dressed female’ category, adding that each will receive N1 million as a “token of my sincere apology and appreciation for their grace and elegance”.

“I address you all today, taking full responsibility and seeking your pardon with my deepest regrets for the distress and turmoil caused by the events surrounding the selection of Best Dressed at the premiere of “AJAKAJU,” the statement reads in part.

“First, I want to extend my sincerest apologies to the Muslim community, especially during this sacred month of Ramadan.

“To the women in our society, I want to express my profound apologies. As a woman myself, I understand the importance of upholding and honoring our gender with dignity and respect. I want to assure you that I hold the utmost reverence for womanhood, and I would never intentionally engage in any behavior that diminishes or disparages the role of women in our society.

“I also extend my heartfelt apologies to My honorable and supportive boss Femi Adebayo @femiadebayosalami and his wife, @iyanaladuke and @dayoamusa for the undue backlash they faced as a result of the announcement made at our event. I deeply regret the insults and disrespect directed towards them, and I take full responsibility for any harm caused.

“To Bobrisky @bobrisky222 I offer my sincere apologies for putting you in a difficult position. The decision to award you was never meant to cause harm or controversy but was rather an attempt to generate publicity for our movie. I am truly sorry for any distress this may have caused you.

“To make amends and correct my mistakes, I have decided to honour two females, Bode Alao and one other beautiful woman as the best-dressed females at the premiere. Each will receive a sum of N1,000,000.”

It, however, remains to be seen if the award and money handed to Bobrisky would be taken from her.

Pelumi Nubi, the Nigerian travel content creator driving from London to Lagos, says she will continue the journey — despite surviving a car accident.

On Tuesday, Nubi revealed that she was involved in a car accident.

She also shared a picture of the now-wrecked car she had used for the trip.

The front part of the car was severely mangled while the windscreen had also been shattered.

She accompanied the post with the caption: “Say a prayer for me”.

In a post via her Instagram page on Wednesday, Nubi said she “miraculously survived” the accident.

She said she will be “taking things easy” for now and continue her trip when she regains her strength.

“God has really shown His mercy. Miraculously, I emerged unharmed from the accident – I survived,” she said.

“A big thank you for all your love, prayers, and good thoughts! It’s crystal clear to me that I have a family here online, rooting for me every step of the way.

“I am taking it easy for now, but I’m definitely going to keep going. The journey is far from over, and with renewed strength and your unwavering support, I will continue to move forward.”

Nubi was making the trip in a purple Peugeot 107. The vehicle was customised with features that enabled space for sleeping and dining.

It, however, remains unknown which country she was in at the time of the accident and what caused the crash.

In November, Nubi announced her intention to embark on a solo trip from London to Lagos.

She commenced the trip on January 30.

Pelumi had initially announced that she would arrive in Lagos on March 23.

Ninja, Twitch’s top gamer, diagnosed with skin cancer

Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, the biggest gamer on Twitch, a live streaming service, has been diagnosed with melanoma.

Melanoma is the most dangerous type of skin cancer; it develops from the melanin-producing cells known as melanocytes.

In a post via X, Ninja said Jessica, his wife, scheduled his annual skin check-up, where a mole on his foot was flagged for further examination.

The 32-year-old said the mole was later confirmed to be melanoma, adding that he underwent additional procedures to ensure complete removal.

He also urged his fans to prioritise regular skin cancer screenings.

“Alright I am still in a bit of shock but want to keep you all updated. A few weeks ago I went in to a dermatologist for an annual skin/mole check that Jess proactively scheduled for me,” he wrote.

“There was a mole on the bottom of my foot that they wanted to remove just to be careful. It came back as melanoma, but they are optimistic that we caught it in the early stages.

“I had another dark spot appear near it, so today they biopsied that and removed a larger area around the melanoma with the hopes that under the microscope they will see clear non-melanoma edges and we will know we got it.

“I am grateful to have hope in finding this early, but please take this as a PSA to get skin checkups.”

Ninja, who began streaming in 2011, rose to superstardom with the explosion of Fortnite in late 2017.

His streams, which often feature celebrity guests like Drake and Travis Scott, have drawn record viewership on Twitch.

Ninja’s channel is currently the most followed person on Twitch with over 18 million followers. He has nearly 24 million YouTube followers.
