Fire engulfs telecoms facility in Abuja
A fire incident has been recorded at a private telecommunications facility in Abuja.
The incident happened in Maitama, a highbrow area in the nation’s capital city.
A nearby restaurant is reported to have been engulfed by the blaze.
The federal capital territory (FCT) fire service, Asokoro division, confirmed both developments to TheCable on Saturday.
The agency said the fire affected a commercial building on Gana street hosting an MTN mast and later spread to District Restaurant and Lounge.
“The fire also affected an eye clinic building hosting Downtown restaurant,” the service added.
In a separate incident, an AP Plaza at Ademola Adetokunbo crescent, Wuse, was also damaged by fire.
The fire service told TheCable that the six-storey building also hosted an MTN control room shelter which was affected.
Both fire outbreaks have been put out and no casualties were reported, the service said.
