Burna Boy, the Grammy award-winning singer, has teamed up with Black Mic Mac, the production company, to executively produce a movie titled ‘3 Cold Dishes’.

The ‘City Boys’ hitmaker will make his debut in the upcoming thriller through Spaceship Films, a company he co-founded alongside Bose Ogulu, his mother.

Though Big Black Mac is the leading brain behind the project, the company would co-produce the film alongside Ifind, Alma Prods, Asurf Films, and Martian Network.

Directed by Asurf Oluseyi and written by Tomi Adesina, ‘3 Cold Dishes’ is a story set across Nigeria, the Republic of Benin, and Côte d’Ivoire. The film follows three teenagers, victims of sex trafficking, who reunite thirteen years later to plot their revenge.

In a chat with Variety, Oluseyi described the movie as “the biggest pan-African film yet” and “an African cinematic journey like no other”.

“This film is a testament to the strength and resilience of its characters, and it took us blood and sweat to get it to this stage,” he said.

The movie boasts of star-studded casts such as Osas Ighodaro, Femi Jacobs, Wale Ojo, Ruby Akubueze, Brutus Richards as well as some Ivorian and Senegalese actors.

‘3 Cold Dishes’ is one of the dozen lined-up projects by Big Black Mac, a production company championing African and Middle Eastern talent.

The company intends to release a couple of films and television series from emerging and established talents that showcase the range of dynamic voices in Africa and the Middle East.

Other projects currently being worked on include: ‘The Devil Inside’, ‘The Three Rascals’, ‘Apophenia’, ‘La Sape’, ‘The Great Transporter’, ‘The Cage’ and ‘Let The Earth Burn’.

US prosecutors say Diddy won’t face charges over 2016 assault on Cassie

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office says Sean Diddy Combs will not be prosecuted over a video of him allegedly assaulting Cassie Ventura, his former girlfriend.

A hotel surveillance video, dated March 5, 2016, was published by CNN.

It captured Diddy kicking, hitting, and dragging Cassie.

In the footage, Cassie is seen in a black sweater while calling an elevator in the now-closed Intercontinental Hotel in Los Angeles.

Diddy is then captured chasing the singer down the hallway in a towel.

The music mogul catches up with Cassie, strikes her, and yanks her by the hair while throwing her to the ground.

Reacting in a statement on Instagram, the district attorney’s office described the footage as disturbing and difficult to watch.

It, however, said that Diddy would not be charged with assault if the encounter occurred in 2016.

The statement said this is because the year of the attack is now beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted.

“We find the images extremely disturbing and difficult to watch,” it said.

“If the conduct depicted occurred in 2016, unfortunately, we would be unable to charge.

“As the conduct would have occurred beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted.

“As of today, law enforcement has not presented a case related to the attack depicted in the video against Mr. Combs.

“But we encourage anyone who has been a victim or witness to a crime to report it to law enforcement.”

The viral video appears to have corroborated several allegations made in a now-settled lawsuit filed by Cassie in November 2023.

In the lawsuit, the singer claimed she was trafficked, raped, and beaten by Diddy on many occasions over 10 years.

Sean Diddy Combs has admitted to assaulting Cassie Ventura, his former girlfriend, in 2016.

The US rapper released a video statement via his social media handles where he also apologised to Cassie.

A hotel surveillance video, dated March 5, 2016, earlier surfaced showing Diddy kicking, hitting, and dragging Cassie.

The LA district attorney’s office stated Diddy would not be charged with assault if the encounter occurred in 2016.

It said this is because the year of the attack is now beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted.

Amid public backlash over the matter, Diddy has now released a monologue where he apologised to Cassie.

He stated in the video apology that he was “truly sorry” and that his actions were “inexcusable”.

“I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I was disgusted then when I did it,” the rapper said.

The assault video corroborated several claims by Cassie made in a now-settled suit filed in November 2023.

In the lawsuit, the singer claimed she was trafficked, raped, and beaten by Diddy on many occasions over 10 years.
