Over 200,000 sign petition to ban Marlian Records over Mohbad’s death

More than 200,000 people have called for the ban of Marlian Records, the music label owned by Naira Marley, following the death of Mohbad, the fast-rising singer.

Mohbad, 27, passed away on Tuesday and was laid to rest on Wednesday.

The police in Lagos have since commenced a probe of the case to determine the nature of his death.

A Change.Org petition by an anonymous blogger has been initiated on the matter.

It has racked up over 200,000 signatures as of September 16.

Mohbad, before his death, was in a faceoff with Naira Marley, the singer who signed him to the Marlian label.

At the peak of it, he had exited the label in favour of a solo run.

The Change.Org petition is now requesting that an investigation should be carried out on why Mohbad could not appear before the police after he was previously summoned over his squabbles with industry executives.

It called for a thorough investigation of the Marlian Music brand and Sam Larry Elegushi, the music promoter.

The cause of Mohbad’s death is still unknown, although allegations have made the rounds.

Joseph Aloba, his father, revealed that Mohbad died after an auxiliary nurse was invited to inject him.
